PM Reiterates No Support for Russian Annexation of Ukraine

Siem Reap: Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that Cambodia does not support, and moreover, against territorial annexation and the use of force or threat of aggression, and that is the case of the Russia-Ukraine war. Cambodia does not support the annexation of Ukraine’s territories by Russia.

The Prime Minister said this at a public forum during a meeting with nearly 3000 residents in Run Ta Ek village, Banteay Srei District, Siem Reap province this Saturday morning.

He said: "Cambodia has no other choice! Because think about it, if suddenly an army comes to Siem Reap and holds a referendum to annex Siem Reap as an independent state, would we accept it or not? We, of course, cannot accept it!”

On Friday, Russia officially recognized four regions of Ukraine as its territory after a referendum earlier on Tuesday. The territories include Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia which cover about 15% of Ukraine. This act was rejected by Ukraine and its Western allies and considered illegal and shameless.
